Halfway out of the dark

Christmas time is good for pictures. All sorts of interesting lighting, shiny things hanging from trees, people with ridiculous expressions on their faces... good times to be had by all. Though Christmas is over now, I thought we could all enjoy this pretty ornament hanging from a tree.

Anyways, now that Christmas is done, we look forward to the second part of the traditional holiday greeting, "and a happy new year." Essentially it's just an excuse to stay up late and have a party, so it's a pretty great evening in general. No present buying, no stressful family gatherings, fancy dinners totally optional. Pretty alright, in my opinion. There are some weird things about the celebration, such as the whole ball drop thing, which is a bit unnecessary. Why wait out in the cold all day to watch a big shiny thing descend down a pole? To each their own, I suppose. Also, the whole midnight kiss tradition is sort of like a Single Awareness Day (otherwise known as Valentine's Day) in miniature, allowing those happily involved to flaunt it to their friends, acquaintances, and total strangers. Not a huge issue, really, but it is kind a strange tradition when you think about it.
In a little over 36 hours, I'll be into my graduating year. Weird stuff.
Until next time, reader.
